Hypnotherapy to help people lose weight involves helping the unconscious and conscious minds to become aligned in thoughts, feelings and behaviour towards food. We learn consciously and unconsciously about how to think and act around food and even how to digest food, from an early age. For many people, excess weight is a result of overeating and lack of healthy eating routines. However, for some people adverse childhood experiences can negatively impact digestion, so that even while eating small amounts of food people struggle to lose weight.

Unlike cigarettes or alcohol - where these substances can be eliminated completely from our lives, we all need food. For this reason overcoming issues in relation to food and weight is not a black and white - yes to food or no to food, but involves establishing a healthy relationship with food, your body, yourself, and taking care of any underlying subconscious blocks that may have been preventing the change from happening for you in the past.

Where dieting is a temporary solution, hypnotherapy aims to help establish healthy patterns of thinking, feeling and acting around food, that become a way of life in the long term. By addressing patterns at the subconscious level, hypnosis offers an advantage over trying to make changes just by willpower alone. The subconscious controls so much of our thoughts and behaviours, and our thoughts around food and eating are included because they are essential to life and therefore controlled automatically by the unconscious.
For example, nobody makes a conscious decision to feel hungry - the decision is made at a level outside the conscious - and then we get a feeling that we are hungry.

By working with this level of the mind outside the conscious, hypnotherapy is a valuable aid to making changes that relate to food, eating and weight.

Weight loss hypnotherapy involves three hypnotherapy sessions to help you with breaking patterns that have prevented change in the past.
​
For some clients, overcoming deep seated underlying issues affecting eating and weight, may require up to six sessions. Further follow-up sessions enable ongoing support as changes take place over time.
Follow up sessions if considered useful by clients can be spaced out over time.
Otherwise initial sessions generally take place within a week to 10 days of each other to establish change at the subconscious level.

All weight loss clients receive a minimum of two hypnosis recordings to support your hypnotherapy between sessions.
