See Hypnosis Q & A

Hello, I am Ber O’Grady, Clinical Hypnotherapist at Source Hypnosis.

As a hypnotherapist of over 20 years, I have a great love and respect for the potential of the human mind, particularly in terms of health and social wellbeing. I love the potential of hypnotherapy to help people reach personal goals by accessing subconscious resources to help bring about change.

I began my training in Clinical hypnotherapy in the 1990's, qualifying in Clinical Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy in 1998. As with most hypnotherapists, I have continued with study and training in various aspects of hypnotherapy over the years and I continue to be fascinated with what we can achieve with the power of the mind. I have gained a lot of experience of how people live with, and overcome many varied life challenges that are connected to unconsciously driven patterns of experience.

At Source Hypnosis I welcome people to explore the possibilities of hypnosis - you may be surprised by how many areas of our lives are controlled by our minds outside of conscious awareness. I am interested in sharing the simple joy of the experience of hypnosis itself, and through hypnosis helping people make the change that they come to hypnotherapy for.

My main role as a Hypnotherapist is to help people reach worthwhile personal goals by setting aside conscious efforts to make change happen, and instead, accessing subconscious resources to help bring about the desired change. Usually conscious will power has already been tried and tested by clients before coming for hypnotherapy. By putting conscious efforts aside for a while in hypnotherapy, subconscious resources can be accessed to much more freely bring about longed-for change, such as a deep and lasting sense of calmness, ease of sleep, freedom from an unwanted habit, or deal with some of the many challenges that life can present in mental and or physical health or relationships.

I am happy that hypnosis and hypnotherapy are experiencing a resurgence of exposure as a result of the wide range of benefits shown through hypnosis research in medicine and psychology.  I am equally interested in both new discoveries in neuroscience - and old wisdom about the nature and possibilities of the mind.

I use hypnotherapy to help people experience positive personal changes through many of life's experiences and challenges - grief, loss, fear, anxiety, depression, issues that children face, teenage distress, hypnosis for childbirth, phobias, compulsions, medical or dental concerns (e.g phobia or preparation and recovery from procedures) and many other issues that have a significant mental or emotional component.

My promise to clients is that I will provide a safe, respectful, calm and unhurried experience for you, to work with your subconscious mind to help you reach an important goal that you have set for yourself in coming for therapy.

If you have had a previous experience of hypnotherapy that was unsuccessful for you, I will ask you a bit about that experience to find out what may have gone wrong for you previously, so we can make sure you achieve success.

Other info about me

Prior to becoming a hypnotherapist I trained as a Registered Nurse working for some years in hospital settings. These valuable times gave me first hand knowledge that I use in my work relating to benefits and limitations of standard medical care for people, including the knowledge that a person's own innate potential for health and wellbeing are not given a place in our standard western model of healthcare. In health related experiences that can often leave people feeling disempowered, I love that hypnosis can help people connect with a sense of personal power in regards to health and wellbeing.

I am trained in HypnoBirthing: The Mongan Method and am eternally thankful for finding this hypnosis childbirth preparation method when I was pregnant with my first child.

Hypnosis for childbirth is available to pregnant women and birthing partners at Source Hypnosis.

Other Qualifications include

Brain Working Recursive Therapy BWRT

Bachelor of Psychological Science BPsySci

While considering undertaking therapy can seem daunting, and it takes courage to book and attend for a first appointment, know that working with your own unconscious in hypnosis can also be exciting, enlightening, comforting, empowering and enjoyable.

If what you are reading here on this website makes sense to you and sounds like something that you would like to explore for the changes that you want to make in your life, then do not hesitate, just get in touch as soon as you are ready. And if you are unsure, consider getting in touch anyway with any further questions that you have and I will do my best to answer them.

I look forward to hearing from you
