Tap Into Your Power Within

Realise Amazing Potential of your Unconscious Mind

Realise the amazing potential
of your unconscious mind
to help you reach many worthwhile goals
in your life

Source Hypnosis is a hypnotherapy practice dedicated to guiding people to access the power of the mind beyond conscious will, through accesing non conscious resources which we describe in terms of the subconscious or unconscious mind.

Ber O'Grady, Clinical Hypnotherapist at Source Hypnosis, welcomes clients to create change through hypnotherapy

from a safe and comfortable clinic environment, in person on the Sunshine Coast, or Online.

Hypnosis helps people quickly experience longed-for change, by working directly with the subconscious mind. The subconscious mind plays a major role in maintaining unwanted habitual behaviours, thoughts, feelings, and beliefs. However, in the process of change, the subconscious also plays a major role in overcoming those unwanted behaviours, throughts, feelings and beliefs. This is where hypnotherapy comes in, working with the subconscious to bring about meaningful and lasting positive change.

The experience of hypnosis is beneficial for physical health and is very relaxing.

Hypnosis is also enjoyable. Overcoming problems doesn't have to be heavy and burdensome - if you are ready for change your subconscious can make changes very quickly and even easily. By truly becoming free from issues beyond the conscious level, your mind and body can experience a sense of harmonious connection with your inner self, and the world around you.

When you are ready to make the change that you want to make for yourself, get in touch and please feel free to ask any further questions you have.

How Positive Change Happens

Human beings are creatures of habit and most of what we experience every day is habitual and occurs as a result of automatic thinking that occurs outside the conscious mind.

For example, think about all the things that you do automatically in your day, such as typing on a keyboard or phone without having to consciously think about each key, driving a car without consciously thinking how you are doing it, riding a bike, or using similar phrases every day that other people associate with you. These are some common every day experiences that are controlled by the subconscious and unconscious mind.

There are also however, experiences in our day, influenced by the subconscious, that we don't like or don't want to have, such as picking up and lighting a cigarette even though we know that we truly don't actually want to be doing that, or snapping angrily out of irritation at people we love and then regretting it afterwards. Or thinking negative thoughts about ourselves. Or feeling anxious when there is no obvious or logical reason to feel anxious.

In hypnotherapy we work directly with the subconscious mind, that part that is responsible for our automatic and habitual experiences, and by doing so hypnotherapy can tap into truly amazing power for change. But how?

Hypnotherapy is based on the premise that our thoughts, feelings and behaviours are first learned, then occur automatically, without conscious consultation. Being controlled at a level outside of conscious awareness - it can be difficult to change habitual thoughts, feelings or behaviours using conscious methods such as will power, or strategies that rely on conscious effort without giving attention to the subconscious at the same time.

In hypnotherapy, the therapist guides you to temporarily relax the activity of the conscious mind, and focus your attention on the subconscious with the intention of helping positive change to happen. Effective hypnotherapy helps the conscious and subconscious work to become aligned to the goal you have set for yourself, allowing issues controlled by the subconscious to be resolved and resulting long term benefits for clients from the changes made at the subconscious level.

Below are examples of issues people frequently overcome with hypnotherapy - Additionally, see Services for more detailed information on how hypnosis can be of assistance

Habits

Unwanted habit behaviours commonly addressed through hypnotherapy include

smoking, vaping, overeating, alcohol use, nailbiting, skin picking, and hair pulling.

Some habits can be stopped with just one session of hypnotherapy.

Habits that are attached to emotions such as anxiety, may require more attention to underlying causes, generally requiring on average between 3-6 sessions for long term beneficial outcomes

Anxiety, Worry, Stress,

Ongoing effects of Trauma

Anxiety is an experience of many issues that people present for hypnotherapy with including, social anxiety, phobias, obsessive thinking, compulsions, unwanted habits and many other issues. Additionally, some issues such as depression, frequently coexist with anxiety. A detailed consultation will ensure the appropriate hypnotherapy approach for however anxiety presents.

At the right time and place, and in the right amount, anxiety is normal. However, high levels of anxiety that seem out of conscious control are very distressing. The natural, gentle and yet powerful effect of hypnosis through hypnotherapy helps people to quickly and easily overcome excessive anxiety - such as anxiety occuring on its own without any seemingly logical reason for being there, or as a symptom of a fear or phobia, obsessional thoughts, or due to past trauma. These issues are dealt with at the causative level so that once therapy is complete, the positive change made is lasting.

Worry: Sometimes people say "I am just a worrier".  If constant worry is getting you down hypnosis can help you to become more calm and to bring your thought processes under your own control, in a way that is more satisfying to you.

Stress, as you know, is a risk factor for a wide range of adverse health conditions. Hypnosis help people to deal with stress in a number of ways - by addressing any mental or emotional factors that are contributing to the stress, and by being guided into deep relaxation where the destressed mind becomes much better placed to help in dealing with any ongoing demands in life following the experience of hypnosis.

Trauma can influence people in very debilitating ways, significantly impacting daily life long after the experience or experiences of trauma have passed. There are a number of ways that hypnotherapy  can help people to experience relief from the negative impacts of past trauma, including hypnosis techniques and Brain Working Recursive Therapy (BWRT) to break distressing patterns of thought and feeling. Additionally, hypnotherapy and the experience of deep hypnotic relaxation support self-healing forces to bring about calm and clear mindedness, helping people become free from the negative impacts of post traumatic stress. As with other issues dealt with through hypnosis, the subconscious plays a major role in symptoms experienced following trauma. Thoughts and feelings can feel outside of a persons conscious control. Additionally there can be a range of emotions negatively impacting individuals. Hypnotherapists understand the complexity of post traumatic stress. At Source Hypnosis a detailed consultation ensures the development of a hypnotherapy approach most suited to a client's individual circumstances.

Physical Health

Hypnosis is a wonderful tool to support the maintenance of good physical health. While still aware and focused, the body's processes enter a healthful and relaxed state. Deep relaxation, positive imagery, attention to creative resources, and regulation of heartbeat, breathing and the digestive system all contribute to promoting a healthy mind, and body.

When people experience illness or physical health challenges, hypnosis can play a significant role in helping to maximise the potential to experience optimal health and wellbeing, whatever health issue a person is going through - by promoting deep relaxation and quality restorative sleep, by addressing the stress of the circumstances, to address pain, both emotional and physical, and to promote healing.

Additionally, hypnosis can give people dealing with physical health challenges a sense of personal empowerment during circumstances in life that can be quite distressing, through connection with many possibilities at an unconscious level, using the power of the mind to help the body.

Improving Sleep

Did you know that to fall asleep we drift through hypnosis before entering deep unconscious sleep? Hypnosis is that time of drifting to sleep, and also coming out of sleep, when we are aware but not fully asleep/awake yet. In this way we can see that hypnosis is a natural part of every day life and a natural companion to sleep. Hypnotherapy can help greatly to improve sleep patterns for people who have had difficulties with sleep - either difficulties falling asleep, waking early, or feeling unrested when walking in the morning

Unsatisfactory sleep quality and insomnia are exhausting over time and can affect many areas of daily life. Hypnotherapy for sleep involves an understanding of your sleep difficulties to address your specific needs for gaining a good nights sleep. Deep relaxation is experienced through hypnosis and any emotional or other factors involved such as overthinking or rumination, are addressed.

Client Feedback

Thank you so much for helping me get over my fear of heights. I am amazed at how I have recently travelled to a high mountain area on narrow roads with sheer drops down cliff sides with no protective barriers and I was absolutely fine!!

Vivienne

Ber made a huge difference to my ability to face childbirth with confidence. Practicing self-hypnosis during pregnancy was a special way to relax and be in quiet time with the baby. I overcame my fear which had been a major hurdle for me. My partner had a role during the birth also which was so good for both of us. I am so thankful for myself and my family that I was able to bring our baby into the world in calmness. I definitely recommend hypnosis for childbirth to any woman who fears birth
