Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy To Overcome Depression
The experience of sadness or loneliness, lack of energy or loss of interest in things that we used to enjoy, loss of concentration, interrupted sleep patterns through loss of sleep or oversleeping and even feelings of worthlessness or hopelessness, the primary symptoms of depression, are experienced by many people at some point throughout life. These symptoms indicate that a person is struggling to cope with circumstances or events in life, either internally experienced events or circumstances in the individuals external life. For many people, depressed feelings pass after a time and life carries on beyond the depressed episode.
However, for people who find that symptoms of sadness or loneliness or loss of motivation or any of the symptoms of depression persist and linger, hypnosis and hypnotherapy can help to uncover unconscious factors contributing to the symptoms and access unconscious resources to offer opportunities for positive change. Hypnosis provides opportunities to mentally step aside from the experienced distress, to relax, and to allow the subconscious mind to take a place in the resolution of the troubling symptoms and experiences.
Often the mind is in a pattern of being, thinking and acting a certain way - and it just keeps doing that. And because habits and patterns are controlled by the unconscious, it can be very difficult to break free from what can feel like the all-consuming symptoms of depression using just the conscious mind. For example, nobody wakes up in the morning and decides to feel hopeless - it is not a conscious decision, the thoughts and feelings are coming from the unconscious. But there is so much that can be done with hypnotherapy to faciliate change from these feelings to something much better.

Hypnotherapy works to help bring the conscious (what you want) and unconscious/subconscious mind into alignment with each other - bringing thoughts and feelings more in line with what you want for yourself.
Sometimes people come for hypnotherapy and say "I don't know what I want". That is ok. If this statement is true for you, know that at the unconscious level of your mind you do know what you want, and through therapy, through accessing your unconscious resources - including e.g. your ideas, memories, images, fears, hopes and dreams and beliefs and feelings of self-worth, and through the skill of your therapist to guide you in hypnotherapy you can start to more beyond what can feel like a darkness or cloud, and feel lightness and hope and experience joy and laughter, experience deep and refreshing sleep, and be able to direct your mind and your actions in ways that are satisfying to you.

People can become free of depression in the blink of an eye if the time is right. For these people major change can happen after just one session of hypnotherapy - something clicks over, the feelings just go and the issues causing the depressed feelings are resolved.
For other people, and more commonly, change happens gradually and good feelings build up as the weeks of hypnotherapy sessions go by. Usually clients will experience significant change within approximately 3-6 sessions and it is recommended that sessions are attended weekly. For mild symptoms of depression therapy will usually be completed by 6 sessions or less.
